![]() But that’s all starting to change with the advent of multi-room streaming systems such as the SONOS range. But even with these innovations, we’re still anchored to our hi-fi systems and if we want music ‘on the go’ within our homes then we still have to put our headphones on (either wirelessly or via our phones) and isolate ourselves as we move from room to room. Increasingly we’re streaming music from our phones via Bluetooth or wi-fi or we’re listening to music stations via the Internet and streaming services. That old model of listening to music is changing though. Music lovers still largely rely on hi-fi to listen to music, and both CD and the recent resurgence of vinyl have kept us in that tradition of sitting down and listening to an entire album in the order it was recorded in. However, in our homes things haven’t changed quite so much. As a result we’ve become very fussy about our music. Then along came the Apple iPod that offered us a multitude of choice and the ability to both shuffle tracks and locate almost any song within seconds. ![]() ![]() First came the Sony Walkman that freed us from our hi-fi and introduced us to the experience of listening to stereo music in a setting of our choice. The way we listen to music has changed over the last decade or two.
